4 steps to beat the recession

Very interesting and brief interview with Sir Stuart Rose of Marks and Spencer on BBC Breakfast television yesterday morning 26th May 2010.

When asked why Marks and Spencer have “beaten the trend” and posted pre tax profits of £632m he replied

  1. We have the right products
  2. We have the right prices
  3. We have the correct innovation and
  4. We deliver the right customer service

A very interesting formula and one that we would all benefit from copying.

I was also listening to Stephen Fry on the Radio 4 Today programme who described a genius as “somebody who leaves the field in which they work completely different.”

A great definition and it makes me think of some geniuses that I work with in dentistry.
